Sophie has just returned from a motivational kickoff meeting for the EDU-STEM Research Coordination Network hosted at the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis. EDU-STEM, or Equity and Diversity in Undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, brings together college-level educators to identify regional or institutional patterns in under-representation or inequity and discuss, implement, and investigate techniques to bridge achievement gaps in STEM education.

It was also enlightening to speak with like-minded educators from all over the country (including fellow FSU Biologist Kevin Dixon) and to see the new classrooms at U of M set up for active learning.
Thanks to our hosts, EDU-STEM ringleaders Sehoya Cotner and Cissy Ballen!
